It’s a long time since I done one of these Sunday Summaries therefore these following tunes probably aren’t fresh from this week but I felt these songs deserved a mention this week.
Selena Gomez – Good For You
Selena “surprisingly” dropped a new single titled ‘Good For You’ two weeks ago and put it available on iTunes worldwide. The new single showcases a new sound for Selena with her going into a more mature sound. The slight R&B influenced track showcases Selena’s vocals in a completely different way. To me, she sounds like a mix of Shakira and Lana Del Rey. In a good way. There is a version with rapper A$AP Rocky too but I think I prefer it without. The video see’s Selena in her most personal to date tied with her previous single ‘The Heart Wants What It Wants’. Despite a new mature sound, she hasn’t changed her image in the slightest as she still looks like the young girl we remember from Disney Channel.
Demi Lovato – Cool For The Summer
From one Disney singer to another! Demi Lovato debuted her new single ‘Cool For The Summer’ ready for it to be a smash this summer and it rightfully deserves to be one. The Max Martin produced single is such a euphoric dance anthem. The song is pure fun with such cheeky lyrics and will hopefully have a great music video soon. The track is her most dance type single since ‘Neon Lights’ and is way WAY better than that.
Jess Glynne – Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself
If there’s any British artist killing it right now, it’s Jess Glynne!! With four number one singles under her belt and not even an album out yet, it’s clear that this year is Jess’s! ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’ is going to be the last single released before her album is and it is the perfect song to promote the album straight off of. Within about one minute the song clicks with you and you are completely hooked, just like her previous number one solo single ‘Hold My Hand’. The positive message behind the song is relatable and the production has that signature Jess Glynne sound. I am more then ready for Jess’s album and I’m so proud to see her grow as I have been a supporter since last summer.
