Lily Allen – Sheezus

Lily this week treated us with the premiere of both the song and video for Sheezus, which is named after the album which comes out next month. Sheezus contains a lot of name dropping as she sings in the chorus: ‘Ri-Ri isn’t scared of Katy Perry’s roaring, Queen B’s gone back to the drawing, Lorde smells blood yeah she’s about to slay you, kid ain’t one to fuck with when shes only on her debut, we’re all watching Gaga lol and haha, dying for the art so really she’s a martyr, second best will never cut it for the divas, give me that crown bitch, I wanna be SHEEZUS’. I guess you could say this song is about women in the industry always being put against each other and how everyone is looked upon as if they’re in competition with one another but at the same time how everyone’s wants to be on top. Lily on Twitter said it’s funny how people can interpret her lyrics to something different to what she was referring to. She is yet to fully explain what the meaning behind this song was but yano what, who cares?! This is another stellar single released from this long awaited album. Sheezus is a 9/10.

The Ting Tings – Wrong Club (Club Mix by The Super Criticals) and preview of single version

So it looks like The Ting Tings are getting ready to release their third album soon since they put out a Club Mix by The Super Criticals of their new song Wrong Club on Soundcloud. A preview of Wrong Club is available on YouTube but a whole premiere is yet to come. Comparing the 50 something seconds preview to the 7 minute remix isn’t the easiest thing to do but you can still hear the potential in the song. Their debut album was super fun and contained some killer indie pop songs that were some of the best of 2008 but the second album was a huge disappointment failing commercially and only had around two good songs on it. The hook for Wrong Club seems a little similar to Daft Punk’s Get Lucky for some reason. The teaser video too also reminds me of a small part of the Get Lucky video where the picture moves? check it out on YouTube video above if you care to compare. If the Club Mix and Teaser is anything to go by, it seems the sound of the single will be more of a disco/dance/pop feel rather than their signature indie sound.

Boots – Dreams (feat. Beyoncé)

If you don’t who Boots is already then he is a rapper, singer, producer, songwriter and video director and multi-instrumentalist who first made forays into music as half of the musical duo Blonds, and into popular music as Beyoncé’s producer. Dreams that is taken from his mixtape feature’s Queen Bey which has made a buzz on the internet. The sensual chilled R&B track oozes sex appeal. Both of their voices really compliment each other and the production is real slick. Having only heard this song from Boots, I cannot wait to hear what else he has already put out. Seeing as he is signed to Jay-Z’s ROC NATION label, I’m sure big things are going to happen for him very soon.
